Craft Industry Specialist, Coach and Mentor, Researcher, Writer, Founder of The Maker Edit and Goldsmiths Entrepreneur in Residence.
The Maker Edit was created from my passion for maker culture. I have worked and studied in the creative industries for over ten years, mainly within Fine Art and Crafts sectors and spent several years researching the craft economy which included studying a postgraduate degree in Culture Industry dedicated solely to the research of maker entrepreneurs.
The results of my MA was creating a business plan and starting my dream business, The Maker Edit, with the purpose of empowering makers and enhancing the recognition of crafts value in our society.
In 2019 the UK saw craft sales of over £3bn (craft economy research report by crafts council) and that was as one of the most underfunded sectors in the creative industries.
So let’s call it how it is, we have amazing maker entrepreneurs in the UK, with funding, support and encouragement just imagine what the craft sector could achieve.

THE MAKER EDIT
The Maker Edit exists to empower makers to appreciate their unique value and develop confidence in their entrepreneurial journey, with a knock-on effect to inspire change and enhance society's value of creativity and maker culture.
Our vision is of a thriving future for the craft industry, with more funding available to reduce the class divide and where being a maker is seen as not only a viable career and business model but one with amazing potential.

MA CULTURE INDUSTRY GOLDSMITHS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
After working in the creative industry I was inspired to conduct a research project as part of a postgraduate degree in the Culture Industry. For my dissertation I travelled to different cities in the UK interviewing independent boutiques, on their experience of working with maker entrepreneurs, to work towards the topic of Routes to Retail: The Changing Landscape of Craft Retail in the Digital Age.
The Maker Edit is the result of my research which aims to provide practical actionable support to maker entrepreneurs in their career ambitions. I am continuing my research through The Maker Scale a research project focusing on makers and the creative economy.
