MAKE, DO & BEGIN
In 2019, coaches Beki Gowing and Jacqui Rudd founded Make, Do and Begin, as a way to collaborate and teach workshops to creative students and graduates. We believe our attendees are already fantastic makers, thinkers and doers, and we teach practical techniques to help them link their creative, academic, and personal skills, and find their unique voice.
All of our advice is tried, tested, and grounded in experience. We’ve both run and supported start-up creative businesses, and worked with larger corporations. We include numerous examples and real-life stories in our workshops to demonstrate the real world applications of our methods.
"Make, Do and Begin provide credible, relevant and timely workshops for students emerging into creative practice. The Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship was really pleased to fund their initial workshop. They had a strong impact on students and we will be booking them again."
Sian Prime, Director of MA Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurship, Goldsmiths
“Most useful workshop I’ve been to. It was good to hear so many real life examples and know that what I want to do is possible.”
Goldsmiths student from a Starting Steps of a Creative Graduate workshop
How We Deliver A Make, Do & Begin Workshop?
Most workshops and webinars are approximately 1.5 hours long, with a presentation, group and individual activities, and group discussions. After the event each attendee will receive an email with copies of the slides and a further handout with useful tips, resources, and articles tailored to the topic.
What Do Participants Get From Our Workshops?
- Leave feeling motivated and optimistic about their creative career
- Create an actionable plan to take their next steps
- Hear relatable stories from real-life entrepreneurial experiences
- Understand the value of their own knowledge, and the support their peers can offer them
- Recommended resources and further reading
"Thank you, I feel so much clearer about what I'm doing and how to do it. Your workshop was so practical and useful." Royal College of Art student from a Project Management workshop
